Aricept

Aricept is a drug most often used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Aricept is the trade name of the drug that is more officially known as Donepezil. The method of action for Aricept is to decrease the level of cortical acetylcholine. Aricept crosses the blood to brain barrier easily and has an oral availability of 100%, meaning the 100% of the Aricept that is ingested will go into effect in the body. Aricept is a recently developed medication and although there have been some promising results in clinical studies there is not yet anything completely conclusive to demonstrate that Aricept can alter the long-term course of Alzheimer's. The study results that the interest in Aricept is based on show that Aricept may be useful for slight to moderate improvements in behavior and cognition for Alzheimer's disease sufferers. While the effectiveness of Aricept is limited, even these basic levels of Aricept effectiveness are considered a strong step in the right direction for many who are caring for relatives and patients who have Alzheimer's.

The effects of Aricept medicine on other kinds of diseases are being studied as well. Aricept is being tested in cases of traumatic brain injury. Aricept for down syndrome, Aricept treatment for neuropathy, curing dementia using Aricept and making use of Aricept to treat bipolar disorder are also among the recent uses for Aricept that are being explored. In cases where Alzheimer's disease is being treated using Aricept, the drug is generally prescribed for patients who have the early to moderate stages of the disease, but it is also becoming apparent that Aricept may be useful for the more severe sufferers of Alzheimer's as well. Aricept reactions vary from patient to patient with some showing little or no reaction while others show a marked level of improvement over several months.

If you are thinking about using Aricept be sure to ask your physician about Resperdal and Aricept interactions and be certain that Aricept will not cause complications with any other kinds of medication that the Alzheimer's sufferer you know is currently taking. The drug is generally taken in Aricept 10 mg tablets, and it has been found in some recent studies to improve the memories of aging people. Aricept side effects are also relatively light compared to other types of drugs that are similar, with the most common side effects of cut Aricept pills being nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vivid dreams and anorexia.
