Atrovent

Atrovent is a drug that is used for treating obstructive lung diseases. In situations when the lungs are overproducing mucus or when the lungs are constricting and making it difficult to breathe, Atrovent blocks muscarinic receptors in the lungs and prevents mucus from being secreted while causing the lungs to relax. Atrovent is the trade name used for the drug Ipratropium. How does Atrovent work? It is taken through the use of an Atrovent inhaler. You can also take your Atrovent dose in combination with the drug Albuterol (the combination of which is sold under the brand names Combivent and Duoneb) as a way to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Atrovent is one of the most popular anticholinergics.

To learn what is the difference between Albuterol, Xopenex, Atrovent and other similar drugs, you should discuss the matter with your doctor or look up drug information on Atrovent in a guide book of prescription medications. This can also give you information on proper Atrovent dosages. If you are treating asthma, you may be taking an Atrovent nebulizer every hour with Albuterol; in other cases, you may use the Atrovent nasal spray less frequently. If you experience the combination of chest pain and Atrovent usage you should contact your doctor immediately.

You also should be aware of possible complications if you have a peanut alergy and want to take Atrovent. Some of the possible side effects that are reported for Atrovent (and for other anticholinergics) are loss of coordination, dry mouth, increased body temperature, pupil dilation, double vision, increased heart rate, diminished bowel movement or urinary retention, and various central nervous system side effects that are sometimes associated with delirium (such as confusion, disorientation, incoherent speech, illogical thinking, photophobia, visual disturbances, hallucinations, and in some very rare cases seizures, coma and death.

Atrovent is a prescription drug that you should only begin using after consulting your doctor and you should only purchase Atrovent from a registered pharmacy counter after receiving a correct prescription. Keep track of your usage of Atrovent and do not in any way exceed your recommended dosage. By using Atrovent in the most responsible way possible you can prevent any negative side effects from occurring and get the greatest benefit to help you breathe easier. I wish you good luck making use of Atrovent to improve your ability to breathe and become a more healthy and active person!
