Cozaar

What is Cozaar? Cozaar is a drug that is used for treating hyper tension (high blood pressure). Cozaar medication is one of the drugs known as angiotestin II receptor antagonists. The Cozaar patent is currently set to expire in 2010. Generic Cozaar was the first of the angiotestin II receptor antagonists to be marketed and the name Cozaar itself is a trade name / brand name used by Merck & Co. to refer to what is chemically referred to as Losartan. As with other angiotestin II receptor antagonists, the Cozaar generic function is to cause the smooth muscle around blood vessels to relax which makes blood vessels widen and blood pressure drop as volume increases.

In situations where a patient has some type of cardiovascular disorder, Cozaar may be among the first line drugs applied. In many other situations, thiazide diuretics and beta blockers are used because of their effectiveness at a lower cost. Cozaar tends to be used over the long term to prevent hyper tension and some of its other uses include reducing the progression of renal disease in type 2 diabetes patients and delaying the progression of diabetic nephropathy. Cozaar high blood pressure tablets can give rise to various Cozaar side effects: Cozaar medical side effects may include swelling (an occasional side effect of several types of medications that lower blood pressure) and when this occurs around the throat it can affect breathing and cause a Cozaar cough. Cozaar and orgasm can also be linked because of the connection between the ability to have an orgasm and lowered blood pressure. The side effects of Cozaar are not particularly greater than those that you get with any other kind of hyper tension medication.
